In 2020, the United States Congress voted to pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act to provide emergency funding to all states during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Congress voted to provide additional funding, called the American Rescue Plan (ARP). The purposes of ARP/ESSER funds are to ensure that schools are able to safely reopen if they had been closed, ensure that schools were able to remain open and provide opportunities to correct any gaps in learning that students may have experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following input from our staff and community members, our system has prioritized the use of funds in the order included in this attached document. For the 2023-2024 school year, Social Circle City Schools have returned to a fully face-to-face instructional delivery model (exceptions occur where individualized educational plans, 504 plans, or behavioral plans require virtual instruction).
The district is monitoring COVID-19 cases in our schools and working with families and employees to allow flexibility as needed.

Current COVID Protocols
Cleaning and Sanitizing
- Hand sanitizer provided in all classrooms, common areas, and school buses.
- Encourage frequent hand-washing.
- Daily cleaning of high-touch surfaces in school buildings.
- School buses will be disinfected after each morning and afternoon route.
Sickness
- We encourage families to follow the advice of their doctor to avoid communicable diseases. Students and staff who are sick should stay home. For additional assistance, families should contact their local school nurse.
Volunteers
- Volunteers are allowed to enter the school and support the school. Volunteers are welcome on campus for afterschool activities and special school events. Parents/guardians will be permitted to eat lunch with their child in the school cafeteria.
