Thank you for your interest in the Social Circle City School District. Applications for out-of-district attendance are screened based on each student’s prior two (2) years PLUS current academic history. This includes a review of report cards, attendance records, behavior and discipline records, test scores, as well as our ability to accommodate the student and to provide a high quality education.
The major factors used to determine acceptance are space and program needs of the student. There are mandated class size limits for children requiring programs such as Early Intervention, Special Education, English as a Second Language, etc. The application process for Social Circle City School District is very competitive.
Non-resident students who are approved for attendance are not required to reapply on an annual basis, but are subjected to annual review. Students who maintain high academic performance, attend school regularly, and demonstrate behavioral excellence will be allowed to remain in the district. Principals have the discretion to deny enrollment if standards of excellence are not met. This happens rarely and would only occur following multiple communications with families.
However, families will need to apply each year that they have an additional family member who would like to be considered for enrollment. We also are sensitive to families with siblings currently in the system; however, this does not guarantee an offer of acceptance.
The tuition, for the 2024-2025 school year, is pending Board approval and varies annually. Students who live in Newton County are exempt from tuition payments. Tuition shall be paid at the Business Office of the Board of Education in one of the following manners:
a. Pay the total amount in advance of matriculation, or
b. Pay at the beginning of each semester an amount equal to ½ of that assessed for the year.
Transportation is not provided for students who have been approved for out-of-district enrollment.
To help expedite the processing of your application, the following items MUST be submitted with your application for each child listed. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Copy of the current report card and a copy of the previous two (2) years if applicable

Copy of the student’s attendance records for the current school year and a copy of the previous two (2) years if applicable

Copy of the student’s current behavior/discipline record and a copy of the previous two (2) years if applicable

Copy of the student’s most recent standardized test scores and a copy of the previous two (2) years if applicable

Copy of Individualized Education Program (IEP) if applicable
We are accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Applications will be accepted until the district has reached enrollment capacity. Completed applications are typically processed within four weeks of receipt and families will be notified via email.
