Public Hearings set as the SCCS Board of Education Intends to Opt Out of House Bill 581
The Social Circle City Board of Education intends to opt out of House Bill 581, the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption, that went into law on January 1, 2025.
An Informational Session will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 5:30 PM, to provide details and address questions about the Board’s intent to opt out of the legislation. Please note this session will replace the originally scheduled first public hearing, as the required newspaper advertisement was printed in an incorrect size.
The Board will hold three public hearings as follows:
• Hearing 1: Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 6 PM
• Hearing 2: Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 5:30 PM
• Hearing 3: Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 6 PM
All sessions will take place at the Social Circle City Schools’ Administrative Building, located at 147 Alcova Drive, Social Circle, GA 30025.

Complete the 2023 SCES A-Z Summer Reading Challenge for an ice cream social at the beginning of the school year.

Rising 6th Graders can complete the summer reading choice board to attend an ice cream social at the beginning of the school year. Students are also encouraged to read a book from the recommended list.
