Coach Austin is a 1997 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School. After high school, Coach Austin went on to attend the University of Memphis where he played football. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Memphis (2001). He also holds a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Walden University (2008), an Educational Specialist in Teaching and Learning from Liberty University (2011), and a Leadership Certificate from Northeast Georgia RESA(2017). He started his teaching and coaching career at Buford Middle School and at Buford High School. While teaching Health and Physical Education at Buford, he was Head Middle School Football Coach, Assistant 9th grade Football Coach, Assistant Wrestling Coach and Assistant Track Coach. From 2005-2014, Coach Austin taught and coached at Winder-Barrow High School. While teaching Special Education at Winder-Barrow, he was also an Assistant Football Coach, Head Wrestling Coach, Assistant Wrestling Coach and Assistant Track Coach. Coach Austin teaches Special Education at Social Circle Middle School and coaches Middle School and Varsity Football, Varsity Wrestling, Middle School Baseball, and serves as Middle School Athletic Director. Coach Austin was selected as SCMS Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year. He is married to the former Danielle Grice, and they have one son, Jackson (16), who is a 11th grader at SCHS.
