Social Circle City Schools improves CCRPI score

The Georgia Department of Education released the 2019 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) scores.  The district earned a 4.5 point increase, with an Overall Composite Score of 71.5, while the overall state experienced a decrease in scores.  Our high school experienced the greatest improvement with a 15.9 overall point gain.

The CCRPI scores include five components - Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Achievement Gaps, Readiness, and Graduation Rate (for high schools only).  All the schools in the district experienced growth. Social Circle Primary School reflected an increase in Readiness. Social Circle Elementary School saw increases in both Content Mastery and Readiness.  The Social Circle Middle School saw an incredible 30.6 point increase in Closing Achievement Gaps. Social Circle High School saw increases in Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Achievement Gaps, and Readiness.   Although the high school experienced a slight decrease in graduation rates - 95.3 in 2018 to 93.7 in 2019, there was an increase of 16.3 points in Content Mastery, 14.7 points in Progress, 57.9 points in Closing Achievement Gaps, and 6.8 points in Readiness.  The high school earned a perfect score of 100 points in Closing Achievement Gaps demonstrating that all student subgroups made improvements in academic achievement rates as evidenced by their performance on the Georgia Milestones End of Course assessments.

The CCRPI includes ratings of school climate that indicate whether or not a school is on the right track toward improvement based upon the parent, student, and employee perception ratings, discipline, safety, and attendance.  All of the Social Circle City Schools earned a four-star or higher on the School Climate Star Rating (CRS). The primary, elementary, and middle schools earned the highest rating of five stars. The high school earned a four-star rating missing the margin for the five-star rating by only 2.6 points out of 100.

“We celebrate the progress our students are making in academic achievement and the diligent work of our staff members to improve the benefits that our students derive from attending Social Circle City Schools.  These results are valuable and help us to direct our improvement planning efforts in the areas of greatest need. However, the CCRPI is only one of many indicators that we use to measure the growth of students and the quality of the learning environments provided in our schools. We are very proud of the inspirational work that goes on in our classrooms every day.  We will continue to ensure that all students are prepared for a global society as we become a high performing school district,” said Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker.
