After School Activities Cancelled

We are monitoring weather developments very closely.
We are following our REGULAR dismissal schedule.
Due to concerns later today, we will be cancelling all after-school activities
and all extracurricular activities scheduled for today and tomorrow.

Please check here for any further announcements.

Safety Statement

Today we received what we believed to be a non-credible bomb threat at our High School through social media. The administrators, for the protection of the students, evacuated the area mentioned in the threat. Students were not allowed to return to this area after school. Several after-school activities were cancelled. JV Basketball still remained scheduled. Law enforcement representatives initiated a sweep of the building with a bomb-sniffing canine and found no evidence of any threat or suspicious device.  Please check back for more information as it becomes available.

Weather Conditions Are Monitored Closely

Out of an abundance of caution, and due to the likelihood of dangerous driving conditions in the early morning hours, Social Circle City Schools & offices will operate on a 2-hour delay Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018. Buses will pick up 2 hours late; school will end on time. School will begin at 10 am. We will closely monitor conditions overnight to determine if further action is needed.

All Schools Improve

All Social Circle City Schools Improve
on Georgia’s School Performance Index

Social Circle City Schools has improved its score on the index that measures public education performance and progress in the state at the district level and at all school levels.

Each school also received a 4 or 5 star rating on its School Climate Star Rating.  These ratings are based on survey results and data from the 2016-2017 school year.

The Georgia Department of Education announced the 2017 College and Career Ready Performance Index scores in a news release Thursday.

This is the sixth annual edition of the CCRPI, implemented in 2012 to replace the Adequately Yearly Progress measurement. The CCRPI combines state-mandated annual data, including the graduation rate and the Georgia Milestones Assessment System standardized tests, into one number on a 100-point scale to communicate how well public schools are doing.

Extended School Days

Inclement Weather Make-Up Time

In order to regain some of the lost instructional time due to the winter weather the Social Circle Board of Education has decided to make the following temporary schedule change: Extend the instructional day by 20 minutes (10 before/10 after) for students and staff for Feb. 24 - March 28 to equal 500 additional instructional minutes (2+ days for students and staff) Continue with 20 minute extended day for staff only on April 7- 18 to equal 200 additional minutes (1 additional day for staff).

This means that school start times will begin 10 minutes early and release times will be 10 minutes later from February 24th through March 28th

Our buses will follow this new schedule beginning Monday, February 24th

Thank you for working with our schools as we work to gain important instructional time before our high stakes testing in April.
