Title 1 Family Engagement Coordinator  

Greetings! My name is Yolondias Colquitt. I am the Family Engagement Coordinator for Social Circle Primary School. I work with parents to make sure that they have the academic resources that they need to assist in their student’s needs.

We have a Parent Resource Center located in the Media Center. It is open daily from 7:30am to 3:30pm. There are tons of different resources available to help your child at home in reading, math, writing and other subject areas. For example: Math, Subtraction, Writing, Telling Time, Colors, Shapes, Numbers and Money Flash cards are ready for check out! We also have sight word and alphabet resources as well as books to assist in reading support! If you are concerned with the development of your child socially or emotionally, we have books that can assist you in this area also. Materials can be checked out and returned after your personal use.

I also work closely with parents to make sure that they have a voice in various decision making processes that may involve their student’s academic future. We offer a variety of parent engagement opportunities throughout the school year to ensure that parents are full partner’s in their child’s education. Workshops are also offered at different times throughout the school year to give extra information on topics that parents feel that they need additional information on. Parents are surveyed at least twice a year to gather input for workshop topics. I also provide resources for parents throughout the school year via weekly folders on reading, math and other subject areas.

Title I

Informing Parents of the "Right to Know"

Parents have the right:

  • To know the professional qualifications of their child's teacher(s) including the degrees and certifications held and whether the teacher is certified in their respective area of instruction
  • To know the school improvement status of the school
  • To know if their child has been assigned, or has been taught for twenty or more consecutive days, by a teacher who does not meet the highly qualified definition.
  • To participate in the planning and implementation of the parent involvement program at their school (Title I schools)
