As many of you are aware, on Tuesday December 4th, as part of an ongoing community investigation, SCPD officers were on our Middle/High School campus during morning drop-off. At no time were any of our students in danger during their visit. Earlier that morning a juvenile was identified as a person of interest needing to be interviewed, and the school was asked to notify SCPD if the juvenile was seen. This notification was made and law enforcement was notified. The juvenile was isolated, with an adult present, until being picked up by SCPD. Again, at no time were any of our students in danger and the situations was being supervised at all times by school administration as well as our School Resource Officer.  Thank you for your patience and support.

Credit Recovery

Did You Come Up a Little Short in a Class This Year?

Students who failed an academic class (math, science, social studies or English) with a 65 or better this year are eligible for a program called Credit Recovery.  This will allow the student a two week (6/5-9 and 6/12-15) extension to the school year to finish up work on a computer program called E2020 and be able to take that failing grade from the 65-69 up to a 70.  The F will disappear and be replaced with a 70.

If you know that your student falls within that range, please contact your student's teacher to verify that your student is eligible.  If he or she is eligible, print out the form below, complete and bring it in with payment to Mike Kulp by June 2nd, however, seats are limited and it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Today we received what we believed to be a non-credible bomb threat at our High School through social media. The administrators, for the protection of the students, evacuated the area mentioned in the threat. Students were not allowed to return to this area after school. Several after-school activities were cancelled. JV Basketball still remained scheduled. Law enforcement representatives initiated a sweep of the building with a bomb-sniffing canine and found no evidence of any threat or suspicious device.  Please check back for more information as it becomes available.

We were thrilled to have so many colleges and careers represented at our fair today.  Career professionals were on site from the fields of : medicine, engineering, graphic design, metal fabrication, biotechnology, cosmetology, legal and government, photograpghy, heating and air conditioning repair, and education.  Our students learned a tremendous amount from all of the professionals who donated their time, treasure, and expertise.  The work today will surely lead to tremendous economic development here in Social Circle.

Dr. Rapp from Athens Tech demonstrated his Biotechnology Program and our students were able to extract their own DNA.  We are very fortunate to have a variety of excellent post secondary education opportunities near our beautiful campus.  These students are going to change the world!

Extended School Days

Inclement Weather Make-Up Time

In order to regain some of the lost instructional time due to the winter weather the Social Circle Board of Education has decided to make the following temporary schedule change: Extend the instructional day by 20 minutes (10 before/10 after) for students and staff for Feb. 24 - March 28 to equal 500 additional instructional minutes (2+ days for students and staff) Continue with 20 minute extended day for staff only on April 7- 18 to equal 200 additional minutes (1 additional day for staff).

This means that school start times will begin 10 minutes early and release times will be 10 minutes later from February 24th through March 28th

Our buses will follow this new schedule beginning Monday, February 24th

Thank you for working with our schools as we work to gain important instructional time before our high stakes testing in April.
