District Winners of the Young Georgia Authors Contest were recognized at this month’s board meeting. Grade level winners were Jase Peters (K), Baylee Dean (1st), Caylie Ferguson (2nd), Kennady Martin (3rd), Abbey Stone (4th), Tim York (5th), Marlee Ruark (6th), Grayson Gruber (7th), Aaron Clegg (8th), Zekari Smith (10th), William Pressley (12th).

We are proud to announce that our SACS visit is complete and the District Accreditation has been approved through 2017. Special thanks to our faculty, staff, students, parents, and community at large for a job well done. Amazing and awesome things happen when we unite and work as a team.

Congratulation to the SCMS Boys soccer team for their clean-sweep win at the GWA Tournament. They won five games in a row and took home the first place trophy! The boys have had an AMAZING season, and this win was a great way to wrap things up! Once again, great job boys!

Elementary School

Governor Nathan Deal has announced that Social Circle Elementary School is one of 370 Georgia Public Schools being recognized under Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) for improvement and achievement during the 2010-2011 school year. The school received the Silver Award for Greatest Gains on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT). The governor commended the principal and teachers for maintaining a focus on providing every student with world-class education.

Social Circle Elementary School has maintained Adequate Yearly Progress status for the past three years. With a strong focus on data analysis and instructional strategies, the students have continued to achieve, even with the bar being raised each year.

We are proud to congratulate the students, teachers, administrators and parents at Social Circle Elementary School for this honor.
